Algeania Freeman
Dr. Algeania Freeman, who currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of The Freeman Group, Inc., brings to her company more than three decades of experience as an educator and administrator. Dr. Freeman draws on her extensive experience with fund-raising, fiscal reporting, employee management, course instruction, and program development to assist a variety of educational institutions. She has earned recognition for her efforts, including designation as a Fellow of the American Society of Allied Health Professionals. The White House Fellows program also named Dr. Algeania Freeman a national finalist.
As further evidence of her success, Dr. Algeania Freeman has helped improve numerous educational facilities and community programs. While leading Livingstone College as President, she secured more than $500,000 for the renovation of a dormitory and a learning annex, both of which had been boarded up for many years. Dr. Freeman also led fund-raising campaigns for remodeling athletic facilities, the dining hall, and other residence buildings. Additionally, she directed a foundation in excess of $6 million for Norfolk State University, utilizing her talents for public and alumni outreach to manage annual giving campaigns and major individual contributions. Since embarking on her career, Dr. Algeania Freeman has secured over $40 million in funding from outside sources.
Dr. Algeania Freeman has also benefited students by initiating a number of partnerships with public and private organizations. She has facilitated cultural awareness events and developed pre-collegiate programs with the CIA and NSA, among other government agencies. In addition, she encouraged parents to take a more active role in their children's education by establishing a Family Literacy Center and a Parental Options and Opportunities Center through a total of $45,000 in donations.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Fayetteville State University, Dr. Algeania Freeman received a Master of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Southern Illinois University. She later obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in Speech Communications from The Ohio State University. Dr. Freeman has undertaken additional training at such institutions as the College of William & Mary, the Institute for Lifelong Learning, and Harvard University.
